Invitation to Participate
We are excited to announce the second Avantgarde Award competition and invite you to participate. The SoCal Chapter of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce (SACCSoCal) has established this award to recognize corporations, non-profit organizations or individuals, with a Swiss-American business angle for their inspirational achievements and contributions to their communities and the Southern California and/or Swiss economy.
The winners will be announced at our annual Avantgarde Gala on Friday, November 8, 2024 at the California Club in Los Angeles.
Why should you participate?
Participating in the Avantgarde Award competition will give your organization unique exposure and access to networking within and across the Swiss-American business community. Specific benefits include:
As last in the previous years, we are looking to recognize organizations who further the Swiss-American business relationships in a forward-looking, innovative and impactful way. Our evaluation of submissions will include the following criteria:
In addition to the Avantgarde Award we will recognize one of the submitting organizations with the Stewardship Award. This year, the Stewardship Award will recognize an organization who particularly distinguishes itself in the area of circular economy principles, such as designing products for reuse, recycling, and remanufacturing, as well as initiatives to minimize waste generation and promote a closed-loop system.
Who will determine the winner?
The winner(s) of the Avantgarde Award will be determined by a jury consisting of a panel of industry, governmental agencies and academic experts from Switzerland and the United States. This includes jurors from the University of Southern California and (USC) and the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich (ETHZ).
After an initial evaluation, the top three nominees will be announced. These finalists will have the opportunity to present their submission to the jury and answer questions in a live format. The winner and runner-up will be invited to the award ceremony at the Avantgarde Gala.

Submission details
- Participants must submit their applications to SACCSoCal by July 31, 2024
- Top 5 ranked submissions will be communicated by August 31
- Shortlisted organizations will be invited for presentation no later than September 15, 2024
